The 2020 St. Louis Open registered skeet event was held at St. Louis Skeet & Trap Club on Saturday October 24 and Sunday the 25th. The two day, weekend, format allowed for those shooters unable to shoot on Friday, due to work or travel, to attend and shoot in all five events.
As always, Club Manager John, (JB) Bauer and his staff, had the club grounds in immaculate condition and the targets flying through the center of the hoops.
Event director, Craig Maravich, along with Head Referee, Roger Spann, and his group of referees kept things moving smoothly and without delay.
It was hard to believe that only two days prior to the event temperatures were a balmy 80 degrees with full sunshine. In spite of chilly temperatures and an overcast windy morning on Saturday, 19 shooters shot 12 ga, 14 shooters 20 ga and 13 shooters shot doubles.
The weather Sunday was much the same, but without the wind, and the shooters finished the event with 14 shooting 28 ga and 12 shooting the .410.
St. Louis Skeet & Trap is proud to have several youth groups from the area practice regularly at our club and several of these young shooters were in attendance with their parents.
HOA went to Mark Presnell with Keven Hess runner up and Donald Beard taking 3rd. For full results go to myskeet.com.
It’s always great to shoot with old friends and make new shooting friendships at this outstanding venue and shoot.
Also, it has been confirmed the 2021 Zone 5 Championship will be held at St. Louis Skeet and Trap. Look for updates from our club by going to our website where you can subscribe to our Constant Contact emails.
There were those who shot “lights out,” and those who shot their average and a few like your “faithful correspondent,” who did not fare so well. But at the end of the day, as I sat in the Adirondack admiring the fall colors and sipping a libation accompanied by a good cigar, it became abundantly clear that it’s well worth the price of admission.
